The best mod i would suggest is: 1.) lift C 034 at the side of pin 6 from U3. ..solder a wire to the free end of C034. ..solder a wire in the empty hole. ..connect those 2 wires to a switch. With this mod you can switch on/off the pre-distortion eq. 2.) lift C020 and C024 from the pcb at the side of pin 6 of U4. Can’t speak to the Metal Core, but the MT-2 and HM-2 are very different circuits. The MT-2 is more amp-like in its distortion, and has a more flexible EQ.
